Mission
Amateur Radio Mission
Establish and strengthen a network of Honduran radio amateurs able to track the satellite, receive and decode its transmissions and report their receptions, connecting the Morazán Project with the global radio community. Build and coordinate a network of ground stations in Honduras that can track the satellite, receive its telemetry, images and data, and report every reception on this site. See the five amateur radio missions.
Educational Mission
MRZN is a training project. UNAH engineering students take part, alongside their professors, in every stage of the satellite: design, integration, testing and operation. This is how they learn first-hand how satellite technology works: the on-board computer and its flight software, power, attitude control, radio communications and the ground station. The UNAH ground station serves as a laboratory where students learn to track satellites, receive and decode their signals and obtain their amateur radio licenses. They learn by building and operating MRZN's amateur radio missions, and that training is part of the amateur service's purpose of self-training in radio technique. The project shares what it learns through open materials, publications and activities with schools and communities, so that other students in the country can learn from it and build on it. Through this mission, MRZN helps develop the capabilities Honduras needs to grow its space sector.
